The team

The School of Psychological Science at UWA is ranked 41st in the QS World University rankings by subject and the discipline was judged as "well above world standard" [the highest rating of 5] in all three Excellence in Research for Australia assessments, most recently in 2015. Only one other Australian university has achieved this maximum level of performance in Psychology across all three ERA rounds. The School hosts research programs in several centres, including the ARC Centre of Excellence in Cognition and its Disorders and the Autism Co-operative Research Centre. Additionally, a number of staff are funded by the Australian Research Council on prestigious Professorial Fellowships.  Strong links have been developed with the UWA Business School and Energy and Minerals Institute, with collaborations including the Accelerated Learning Laboratory and Centre for Safety. In the last 2 years, these have led to the award of $4M+ in research funding. The School regards IO Psychology as a significant, strategic growth area.

The School runs advanced postgraduate courses in IO Psychology and Business Psychology, including a combined MPsych IO Psychology and Ph.D.

About the opportunity

The role includes teaching in postgraduate IO Psychology or Business Psychology programs, supervising research students at Honours and postgraduate levels

As the successful appointee, you will be expected to play a significant part in further developing the international research reputation of the School especially in IO Psychology or Organisational Behaviour.  The role carries the expectation that the individual will attract research funds and develop collaborations with researchers within and outside the School.

The appointee will also play a key role in the development of research-led teaching and evidence-based practice in IO Psychology or Business Psychology.

To be considered for this role, you will demonstrate:

  • PhD qualification with a specialty in Industrial and Organisational Psychology, Organisational Behaviour or a related discipline;
  • Ability to work productively in research teams;
  • A good track record of research achievement including publications in international journals;
  • Evidence of good supervision of research students (e.g., Honours, Masters, PhD);
  • A significant personal contribution and commitment to high quality teaching, including incorporation of research and scholarship to teaching activities;
  • Evidence of an active role in the maintenance of academic standards and in the development of educational policy or of curriculum areas within the discipline.
