About the team

The Australian Research Council (ARC) Centre of Excellence in Plant Energy Biology (PEB) is focused on better understanding the way in which plants capture, convert and use energy in response to environmental change, with a view towards improved plant energy efficiency.

The Centre is a nationally funded research centre operating across four universities (The University of Western Australia, Australian National University, The University of Adelaide and La Trobe University), and is headquartered at The University of Western Australia in Perth. With a total of 11 chief investigators and partner investigators across the globe in USA, Germany, Finland, Sweden and China, the Centre have state of the art facilities to undertake fundamental and strategic research using a wide array of functional genomics approaches.

About the opportunity

A Research Fellow position is sought for a position working with Professor Harvey Millar and his team in undertaking innovative laboratory-based research on stable-isotope labelling for protein analysis using mass spectrometry aimed at publication in international research journals. This position plays a key role in both technology development and student supervision.

To be considered for this role, you will:

  • Have a PhD in protein chemistry, biochemistry or molecular biology, or related discipline
  • Demonstrate experience with analysis of stable-isotope labelled mass spectrometry data
  • Good interpersonal skills to work independently and in a team
  • Experience in project management
  • Demonstrate a high level computing and data management skills
  • Experience in preparing manuscripts for publication and supervising students

About you

As the Research Fellow, you will possess excellent interpersonal skills to work collegiately with colleagues and other researchers from the laboratory. You will play a lead role in project managing the research and effectively supervise PhD students. This position will involve large amounts of data and therefore, you will also have experience and skills in computing and data management.

We are keen to have the successful applicant to commence at the beginning of 2019.
