About the area

The McCusker Centre for Citizenship established in October 2015 at The University of Western Australia is the first of its kind in Australia.  Funded by a generous endowment through the McCusker Charitable Foundation, the Centre builds on the University’s founding vision to advance the prosperity and welfare of the people by creating a culture of giving. The Centre aims to create community-minded thinkers and leaders focused on addressing community challenges; providing students with a transformative and diverse educational experience in which community engagement is integral; encourage and provide opportunities for students and staff to engage in their local and broader communities.  The Centre provides a range of programs including its award-winning internship program which has over the last 9 years seen over 5000 students undertake the internship and contribute more than 500,000 hours in service to the community.  The Centre has more than 650 partners.

About the opportunity

• Implement a range of communication initiatives to attract and increase student enrolments in the award-winning internship program and secure partner organisations to host interns.
• Develop communication strategies that highlight the impact and success of the Centre’s work to external and internal stakeholders.
• Support engagement efforts that strengthen the Centre’s visibility and reputation through targeted messaging and outreach activities.

About you

• Relevant tertiary qualifications in communications or related discipline or equivalent competency.
• Substantial relevant communications experience.
• Highly developed written and verbal communication skills across a range of audiences including students, external partners and UWA networks.
• Highly developed organisational skills and ability to set priorities and meet deadlines.
• Proficiency in a range of computing skills including word processing, website construction and management, desktop publishing, spread sheets, databases, and email.
