  • Part-time (0.6 FTE annualised) appointment on a fixed term basis for 2 years. 0.8FTE during Peak periods (February to November) flexing down to 0.1FTE in non-peak periods.
  • Base salary range (Level 6): $91,833– $97,052p.a. (pro-rata) plus 17% superannuation.

About the area

Technical Services provides discipline specific, applied knowledge and skill sets to support UWA’s teaching and research goals in unison with our academic staff. This team of practitioners is focused on high performance outcomes, compliance and contributing to a pragmatic safety culture via the implementation of safe systems of work.

About the opportunity

  • Provide high level of discipline specific technical expertise in setting up and preparing equipment for Engineering teaching laboratory sessions.
  • Support the academics, students and the physical sciences technical team in providing technical support and expertise for various teaching activities and projects.  
  • Support research productivity by assisting academics and research students training for and using equipment required related to their research outcomes.  

Peak Periods

This position is 0.6 FTE annualised. During peak periods (37 weeks per year) at 0.8FTE, flexing down to 0.1FTE during non-peak periods (15 weeks mid-summer). Peak periods the first week of February through mid-October. 

About you

  • Relevant tertiary or technical qualification or equivalent competency
  • Substantial relevant technical experience setting up and troubleshooting engineering equipment across a broad range of Engineering disciplines, including but not limited to Electrical and Electronic Engineering and Mechanical Engineering.
  • Highly developed written and verbal communication skills
  • Highly developed organisational skills and demonstrated ability to set priorities and to meet deadlines
  • Proficiency in a range of computing skills including data acquisition, word processing, spreadsheets, databases, email on online/internet-based systems

Note: “C” class driver’s licence will be required by the successful applicant. Must be able to fit the physical requirements of the position. Current (or ability to hold) high-risk licences including but not limited to Forklift, Crane operation, Working at Heights and Confined Spaces.
