Engagement Officer

  • Play a key role in the successful delivery of public and academic programs at one of WA’s leading university art galleries.
  • Develop highly desirable skills in audience development and community engagement to build a career in the arts sector.
  • Part-time (0.4 FTE) appointment on a fixed term basis for until June 2028.
  • Base salary: $83,212 (pro-rata) plus 17% superannuation.

About the area

The Lawrence Wilson Art Gallery (LWAG) is a university art gallery of international standing, situated on Whadjuk Noongar Boodja. As custodian of the UWA Art Collection and the Cruthers Collection of Women’s Art, LWAG plays a vital role in enriching the University’s cultural, educational and research environment. Through exhibitions, collections, and collaborative partnerships, the gallery champions artists, fosters critical engagement, and connects diverse audiences across the University and broader community.

About the opportunity

  • Support the planning and delivery of a dynamic program of public and academic engagement activities including talks, tours, lectures, workshops and events
  • Coordinate community and student engagement initiatives that enhance access, participation and understanding of exhibitions and collections
  • Contribute to strengthening the gallery’s visibility, impact and stakeholder relationships across the University and wider community

About you 

  • Relevant degree or equivalent experience in a gallery, museum, education or community setting
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills with the ability to engage diverse audiences and stakeholders
  • Excellent organisational and project coordination skills, with the ability to manage competing priorities and meet deadlines
  • Proven ability to build and maintain positive relationships with colleagues, academics, artists and community partners
  • High level of digital literacy and experience supporting events, programs, and/or volunteers or interns
