About the area: as part of UWA’s School of Medicine and Pharmacology (Royal Perth Hospital Unit), you will join Dementia Training Australia (DTA). DTA is the peak Commonwealth funded dementia training organisation in the country, led by a consortium of experts from five Australian universities and Alzheimer’s Australia. This national organisation translates contemporary knowledge regarding dementia care by developing and delivering training and resources to the dementia-care workforce, and forms a key linkage between research and industry.

About the opportunity: reporting to the Manager (Dementia Training Australia-UWA), you will be responsible for delivering the DTA Medication Management Training Service. You will assist key staff of residential aged care facilities to ensure that their use of psychotropic medications aligns with recommended practice by facilitating the delivery of DTA training and resources in this area.

About you: you will be a tertiary graduate in a relevant discipline with recent experience within aged care. You will also hold current (or be eligible for) registration with the Australian Health Practitioner Regulation Agency (AHPRA).

To be considered for this role, you demonstrate:

  • completion of an undergraduate or postgraduate pharmacy or nursing degree plus relevant work experience and education/training in aged care;
  • research project management experience;
  • advanced computer skills particularly with experience in the Microsoft suite of applications;
  • highly developed organisational skills with the ability to manage multiple and often competing tasks with attention to accuracy and detail within deadlines; and
  • highly developed oral and written communication skills with cross-cultural sensitivity and the ability to prepare high level reports and papers for publication.
