About WACRH: funded through the Commonwealth Department of Health and part of a national network of university centres across Australia, the Western Australian Centre for Rural Health (WACRH) strives for excellence in rural health and aims to improve remote and Aboriginal health through research, education, student support and community development activities.

About the opportunity: recent expansion from Geraldton with a new office at the Karratha Central Healthcare Super Clinic, WACRH has a unique opportunity to join a dynamic, multi-disciplinary team working to improve the health of rural, remote and Aboriginal people in Northern Western Australia. You will participate in the development of innovative professional practice programs for students and provide clinical supervision and evaluation to undergraduate, graduate entry, and postgraduate students (including support for project based placements). You will also collaborate with the WACRH team based in Geraldton and Perth, liaise with key stakeholders and contribute to the evaluation of the student placement programs and their impact on student work readiness. About you: an academic keen to live in or already living in Karratha or towns in the surrounding Pilbara Region. Preferably you will have a postgraduate qualification or industry experience in a role that supports health professional education, public health or research/evaluation. Registration and experience in Occupational Therapy is essential.

About Karratha: a two hour flight north of Perth, Karratha is a vibrant and growing city bordered by the Indian Ocean and the rugged Pilbara landscape. The City of Karratha has many facilities including two high schools, an airport, Leisureplex, TAFE, library, cinema and a hospital. A brief drive will take you to the pristine white beaches and unique rock formations of the Burrup Peninsula, home to one of the largest and oldest indigenous rock art collections in the world. Karijini National Park, traditional home of the Banyjima, Kurrama and Innawonga Aboriginal people, is also accessible with its spectacular gorges, rock pools, waterfalls and unique wildlife.
