  • Level B or Level C, part-time appointment 0.2 - 0.4 FTE / 3 year fixed term basis
  • Base salary range: Level B $108,509 – $128,404 p.a. plus 17% superannuation, Level C $132,381 – $152,279 p.a. plus 17% superannuation, Clinical Loading may apply

About the team

The UWA Medical School is the largest and longest established medical school in Western Australia. It delivers a 4-year post-graduate MD course to local, national and international students. The School also has substantial and successful research programs across most disciplines in the medical sector. The Division of Pathology and Laboratory Medicine provides high quality and innovative teaching to medical and allied health students throughout the course in collaboration with the wider medical profession.

About the opportunity

This position will involve providing teaching and assessment of students within the MD program with a particular focus on development of innovative resources to support students in the acquisition of medically relevant knowledge and skills in the fields of clinical microbiology and infectious diseases.

The role will involve close collaboration and engagement with infectious disease physicians in the public and private sectors and other academic staff contributing to the MD program. The role will also include supporting the unit coordinators in ongoing review and development of the clinical microbiology curriculum and course delivery to ensure a clinically relevant and positive learning experience.

 To be considered for this opportunity, you will demonstrate:

  • Expertise in current clinical microbiology practice, demonstrated by Fellowship of the Royal College of Pathologists of Australasia or equivalent and/or Fellowship of the Royal Australasian College of Physicians in infectious disease and/or microbiology.  Candidates with a PhD or other higher degree in microbiology, with relevant teaching experience may also be considered
  • Experience with small and large group teaching of medical students and / or junior doctors
  • Experience in assessment of medical students and / or junior doctors
  • Experience in innovation, development and utilisation of learning resources
  • Effective organisational, communication and collaboration skills, including ability to work in teams including pathologists, clinicians and other academic staff
