Asbestos & Hazardous Materials Coordinator

  • Level 7, full-time appointment on an ongoing basis
  • Base salary range: $95,737 – $106,223 p.a. (pro-rata) plus 17% superannuation

About the team

Campus Management is responsible for planning, designing, developing, and managing the University’s campus and property portfolio to support teaching, research, and campus life. Campus Management delivers a range of university-wide services including strategic planning, property management, facilities operations, major projects and developments, sustainability, landscape, security, and transport.

About the opportunity

As the appointee you will, under broad direction, work within the Campus Management (CM) contractor safety, compliance in managing Asbestos & Hazardous materials management, within the Asbestos Management framework and monitoring program. Working as a conduit between UWA service responsible persons, contractors, and compliance management team. You will provide assurance and compliance functions to ensure works being undertaken at UWA by contractors are in line with agreed safety performance standards and UWA contractor management processes and procedures. This includes issuing of UWA authority to work, high-risk work permits and Asbestos Management.

To be considered for this opportunity, you will demonstrate:

  • Relevant degree qualification or VET course for asbestos assessor work or demonstrated equivalent in safety or related field
  • Substantial experience in safety roles within large complex facilities and organisations preferably in asbestos assessment, building construction or environmental health
  • Demonstrated experience supporting or leading incident investigations including the development of reports and close out of corrective actions
  • Well-developed understanding in the interpretation of Occupational Health and Safety legislation
  • Experience in developing and implementing business processes and procedures
