About the opportunity

A unique opportunity to work with renowned scientists in computer vision including Professor Ajmal Mian and his team of PhD students and postdocs. The research project will focus on novel techniques in the area of generative 3D computer vision and developing 3D diffusion models capable of generating complete 3D scenes. This will advance our theoretical understanding of diffusion in complex 3D environments and open up new possibilities for applications in fields such as virtual reality, architecture, and city planning. The proposed 3D diffusion models will also enhance the accuracy of discriminative computer vision tasks in 3D scene understanding, such as object detection, tracking, and semantic segmentation.

In addition to performing blue-sky research towards the project goals, the successful candidate will have the opportunity to co-supervise PhD students.  Focusing on the fundamental problems in generative 3D vision and deep learning, the research outcomes for the project are expected to be published in the top-tier venues such as CVPR, ICCV, ICLR, NeurIPS, and ECCV.

To be considered for this opportunity, you will demonstrate:

  • PhD (completed or near completion) in 3D computer vision, machine learning or closely related field
  • Prior experience in designing and training diffusion models
  • A track-record of high-quality research in computer vision or machine learning
  • First-author publications in the leading sources of the field, especially on topics related to the project
  • Experience in deep learning frameworks such as PyTorch
  • Desire to develop prominent research profile with top quality outcomes
  • Commitment to achieve goals by stipulated deadlines
