  • Level B, part-time (0.6FTE) appointment on a fixed term basis for 18 months  
  • Base salary range: $108,509 - $128,404 p.a. (pro-rata) plus 17% superannuation

About the team

The School’s Department of Environmental Science is seeking to appoint a Lecturer to contribute to our undergraduate and postgraduate teaching program. The Department is responsible for the delivery of undergraduate majors in Environmental Science including teaching responsibilities in associated areas such as Ecology, Geography and Environmental Management. In addition, the Department also leads the Master of Environmental Science and Master of Biotechnology postgraduate programs.

About the opportunity

You will undertake independent teaching in the area of Environmental Science. Key responsibilities include unit delivery and content management, engaging with students and school staff to ensure a high-quality learning experience.

You will be expected to lead and coordinate the first-year unit ENVT1104 Environmental Science and Technology (Semester 1) and contribute to the coordination and delivery of other units including ENVT4421 Fundamentals of Environmental Management and ENVT5515 Environmental Management in Mining, and others as time permits. Roles in these units will include content design and development, in-person and online delivery, workshop and lab organisation, marking and invigilation and reporting to the School’s education committee.

To be considered for this opportunity, you will demonstrate:

  • PhD in Environmental Science, or relevant discipline
  • Familiarity with contemporary environmental challenges and management approaches adopted in Australia
  • Ability to deliver innovative teaching approaches, assessment and materials for units and courses, including for large first year units
  • Commitment to inclusive teaching practices to extend equality of opportunity for all learners
  • Experience with scientific data analysis relevant to the discipline using software such as Excel, R or Python
  • Experience with laboratory and field skills relevant to the discipline such as soil and water sampling and analysis
