  • Full-time (1.0 FTE) appointment on a fixed term basis 12/5/2025-30/9/2027.
  • Base salary range: $167,408–$172,584 p.a. plus 17% superannuation.

About the area

The Office of Industry and Commercial Development (OICD) provides professional and expert support services to facilitate research excellence and knowledge transfer at the University. It is at the forefront in executing the University research strategy and growing the impact and revenue from research translation. The OICD team promote and develop the University’s research profile through active engagement with researchers and industry to commercialise the University’s research and intellectual property (IP).

The Commercial Development division leads the development and stewardship of relationships with industry, the not-for profit sector, governments and communities that materially benefit the reputation and/or financial position of the University.

About the opportunity

  • As a leader of the Commercial Development team, you will provide a streamlined business capability that develops and enables the translation of UWA’s knowledge into real world change in industry and government, contributing to UWA’s revenue targets and partnerships with external partners.
  • Develop, direct and lead strategies and initiatives to grow and protect commercial outcomes for the University.
  • Manage a portfolio of projects that deliver outcomes aligned to the Office business plan including research and commercial income.

About you

  • Relevant tertiary qualification or demonstrated equivalent competency.
  • Excellent interpersonal, written and verbal communication skills with the capacity to effectively communicate with the UWA’s external stakeholders and to promote and market its capabilities and products.
  • Excellent analytical, problem solving and organisational skills to effectively plan and implement multiple projects.
  • Demonstrated ability to take initiative, develop new systems and adapt to a dynamic, changing environment.
  • Extensive knowledge and commercial experience with demonstrated ability to develop and deploy best practices, policies, procedures and processes and deliver quality outcomes in a limited timeframe.

Note: Some interstate and overseas travel may be required.
