  • High‑visibility role in a central governance function, contributing directly to the University’s enterprise risk maturity, resilience and assurance outcomes.
  • Broad, varied portfolio spanning risk, insurance, business continuity and critical incident support, providing strong career development and exposure across the full risk lifecycle.
  • Full-time (1.0 FTE) appointment on an ongoing basis.
  • Base salary range: $104,243 – $115,661 p.a. (pro-rata) plus 17% superannuation.

About the area

The Risk, Integrity, Safety, and Compliance (RISC) division oversees the University’s risk management framework, leading initiatives to embed enterprise-wide, integrated risk management and foster a positive, risk-aware culture. RISC’s areas of responsibility encompass health, safety & wellbeing, enterprise risk, compliance, information governance, internal audit, business continuity and insurance.

The Strategic Assurance team, a key unit within RISC, provides a structured and coordinated approach to internal audit, risk management, organisational resilience, emergency travel assistance and insurance, supporting the University’s commitment to a strong risk management culture.

About the opportunity

  • Support and enhance UWA’s enterprise risk management framework, including risk assessment, monitoring, reporting and control assurance activities.
  • Contribute to business continuity, critical incident processes and emergency travel risk activities across the University.
  • Provide operational and administrative support to the University’s insurance program, including data preparation and enquiry management.

About you

  • Hold a relevant tertiary qualification or demonstrate equivalent competency in operational risk management.
  • Bring substantial experience delivering risk advisory, control testing and assurance activities within a structured framework.
  • Skilled in developing guidance materials, training aids, policies and documentation that support risk capability uplift.
  • Highly developed written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to brief senior stakeholders and prepare quality reports.
  • Confident in building strong working relationships and influencing across diverse stakeholder groups.

Note: Employment checks will include information on gender-based violence, sexual harassment, and related misconduct to meet legal obligations. A current National Police Clearance will be required by the successful applicant. Occasional after hours or weekend work may be required.
