• Part-time (0.73 FTE) appointment on a fixed term basis for 12 months.
• Base salary range: $83,212 – $92,231 p.a. (pro-rata) plus 17% superannuation.
 
About the area
The Centre for English Language Teaching (UWA CELT) works to enhance recognition of UWA internationally by providing high quality intensive English language programs and allied services. It contributes to UWA’s priorities and operations through its expertise in the teaching, learning and testing of the English language and through its international promotional activities. Within this context, UWA CELT’s high annual turnover income enables it to be self-funding whilst contributing to services for the University’s students. UWA CELT isa part of the office of the Pro Vice-Chancellor (Global Engagement) and has key a role in supporting and furthering the University’s international strategies.
 
About the opportunity 
• Assist with the planning, initiation, coordination, promotion and administer a range of student social and cultural activities/events aimed at enhancing the overall experience of UWA CELT students.
• Coordinate logistics, venues, scheduling and preparation of materials, catering etc. for orientation sessions for new students, graduation ceremonies, events and functions.
• Liaise with key stakeholders within UWA CELT, UWA College, UWA and the wider community to develop and implement successful student activities.
 
About you 
• Relevant tertiary qualification or equivalent competency.
• Highly motivated and an ability to work independently, show initiative and work productively as part of a team.
• Substantial relevant administrative experience in working with students. 
• A high degree of sensitivity and appropriate responsiveness to cultural diversity. 
• An extensive understanding of the issues and challenges facing international students.
 
Note: Employment checks will include information on gender-based violence, sexual harassment, and related misconduct to meet legal obligations. A current National Police Clearance, and Working with Children Check will be required by the successful applicant. Some after-hours work may be required.
 
• A current `C’ class driver’s licence and having your own car is a requirement of this position.
• Working days are Monday to Friday, 8am to 2pm. On some Fridays, your work hours are 11am to 5pm to cater to certain activities. 
• You will be involved in organising student lunches, pizzas parties and cooking sausage BBQs.
