Technical Assistant

  • Join a collaborative team in a rewarding technical support role, providing specialist expertise in the Life Sciences Platform, with a key focus on Sports Science at UWA’s Crawley campus.
  • Initially part-time (0.6 FTE) fixed-term appointment from 20 January to 23 February 2025, increasing to full-time (1.0 FTE) during semester peak periods (24 February to 9 May 2025).
  • Base salary range: $74,450 – $79,085 p.a. (pro-rata) plus 17% superannuation.

About the area
College Services at UWA provides academic administration and technical support services to the University's schools, with a strong focus on innovation and the delivery of best practice. The Technical Services team within College Services collaborates with academic staff to support teaching and research, including laboratory management, fieldwork support, and equipment stewardship, ensuring a high-performance and safe environment.

About the opportunity

  • Provide technical expertise and hands-on support for teaching and research activities, with a focus on Sports Science within Life Sciences applied training facilities.
  • Maintain laboratory environments, ensuring records, resources, and equipment are well-maintained and available for teaching and research.
  • Promote and ensure adherence to UWA's safe systems of work, meeting all regulatory compliance requirements.

This position is 0.6 FTE during the off-peak periods, and 1.0 FTE during the peak Semester 1 periods (24 Feb to 9 May 2025).

About you

  • Completion of Year 12 or equivalent competency, with extensive relevant experience in a technical or laboratory environment.
  • Applied technical expertise and safety knowledge in the fields of Physiology and Sports Science.
  • Excellent communication and organisational skills, with the ability to prioritise tasks and meet deadlines.
  • Proficiency in computing skills, including word processing, spreadsheets, and online systems.
  • Ability to work independently while contributing to a proactive and supportive team environment.

  • Some after-hours work may be required
