The Centre for Energy, within UWA’s School of Engineering, is a highly collaborative research hub dedicated to advancing cutting‑edge energy technologies and supporting multidisciplinary engineering research. The Centre houses well‑equipped laboratories and sophisticated analytical instrumentation used across major ARC, CRC, industry and government‑funded projects. Researchers, technical specialists and students work closely together to explore emerging ideas, contribute to high‑impact experimentation and deliver innovation that supports Australia’s evolving energy landscape. About the opportunity

  • Support a diverse range of ARC, CRC, industry and government‑funded research projects by assisting with laboratory experimentation, analytical testing, and broader research activities.
  • Contribute to specialised analysis work including GC/GCMS, SEM, TEM and XRD, while helping deliver initial trials that underpin new research ideas and future grant opportunities.
  • Work closely with research personnel across the Centre for Energy, providing essential laboratory support and ensuring smooth operation of experimental programs.

About you

  • You hold (or are progressing toward) an undergraduate qualification in Chemical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or a closely related discipline, or bring equivalent relevant experience.
  • You have practical research or project experience and are confident supporting laboratory‑based experimentation and analytical tasks.
  • You bring technical knowledge in microscopy or analytical instrumentation, with a willingness to expand your capability and learn new research techniques.
  • You demonstrate strong organisational skills, can manage competing deadlines and work effectively both independently and within a team environment.
  • You communicate clearly in written and verbal formats and are proficient across standard computing applications including word processing, spreadsheets and databases.
