About the area

The Department of Agricultural and Resource Economics (DARE), within UWA’s School of Agriculture and Environment, hosts the Centre for Agricultural Economics and Development (CAED) and the Centre for Environmental Economics & Policy (CEEP), delivering independent, evidence‑based research that supports sustainable decision‑making in agricultural and environmental systems. The Department has a strong record of research excellence, with staff attracting competitive national and international funding and high‑quality HDR students, and is actively involved in major externally funded projects across government and industry. DARE delivers the undergraduate major in Agribusiness and leads the Master of Agricultural Economics and Master of Environmental Economics postgraduate programs, with contributions to related teaching in environmental economics and management.

About the opportunity

  • Undertake independent teaching and research in Agricultural and Environmental Economics or Agribusiness.
  • Contribute to unit design, delivery, and content management, including engagement with students and colleagues to support a high-quality learning experience.
  • Conduct independent and collaborative research; including publication in leading journals, pursue competitive funding, engage with stakeholders and industry, and supervise Honours and postgraduate students.

About you

  • PhD in Agricultural/Agribusiness/Environmental Economics, or relevant discipline.
  • Demonstrated ability to deliver high‑quality teaching at undergraduate and honours levels, including innovative approaches to teaching, assessment, and learning materials in applied economics.
  • Demonstrated capacity to develop a strong research and publication track record relative to opportunity.
  • A demonstrable emerging track record of successful competitive funding application.  
  • Demonstrated skills in quantitative data analyses in applied economics.
