Senior Program Manager (IT)

Job no: 523445
Work type: Full Time
Location: Crawley
Categories: Information Technology

  • Opportunity to work on high-impact, institution-wide transformation initiatives.
  • Collaborative and purpose-driven environment within a leading research-intensive university.
  • Full-time appointment on an ongoing basis.
  • Competitive salary package including 17% superannuation.

About the area

UWA is embarking on a bold transformation journey, backed by significant investment in Information Technology to accelerate its strategic ambitions. We are harnessing the power of emerging technologies to elevate our teaching, research, and operational capabilities — creating smarter services, richer experiences, and innovative solutions for our community.

The Student Digital Experience Program is a major portfolio of initiatives focused on improving the end-to-end digital experience for students by making services more connected, intuitive, and easier to navigate across key student moments and interactions. The program aims to reduce friction, improve access to information and support, and deliver measurable benefits for students and staff across the student lifecycle.

About the opportunity

We are seeking an experienced Program Manager to lead the Student Digital Experience Program, overseeing multiple interrelated projects and workstreams from early concept through delivery, adoption, transition to operations and benefits realisation. Working with senior stakeholders across the University, you will shape investment-ready proposals, define program scope and roadmap, establish strong governance, and drive coordinated delivery that translates strategy into simpler, better-connected student experiences.

This role requires exceptional planning and leadership to manage complexity, dependencies, and organisational change, as well as disciplined oversight of schedule, budget, benefits, risks, issues, resources, suppliers, and communications. You will provide clear status reporting and advice to governance forums, ensuring delivery aligns to UWA standards, processes, and agreed outcomes.

About you

  • Degree-qualified in a relevant discipline such as STEM, Business, or equivalent professional experience.
  • Formal program or project management certification (e.g. MSP, PRINCE2, PMP), or equivalent experience applying structured delivery frameworks and portfolio management practices.
  • Proven track record delivering complex digital, service, or business transformation programs, ideally over 5–10 years, including governance, financial management, and benefits realisation.
  • Experience developing business cases and investment proposals, with the ability to articulate value, risk, and return.
  • Advanced stakeholder engagement and facilitation skills, with the ability to navigate ambiguity and bring structure, alignment, and momentum across diverse groups.
  • Solid understanding of digital delivery and change fundamentals, including system delivery lifecycles, integration, cyber security, data/privacy, and service transition.

Desirable

  • Experience working within higher education, government, or other large, complex organisations.

Note: Employment checks will include information on gender-based violence, sexual harassment, and related misconduct to meet legal obligations. A current National Police Clearance, will be required by the successful applicant. Some after-hours work may be required.
