  • Base salary range: $86,540 – $95,920 p.a.  plus 17% superannuation.

About the area

The professional services team of the Indigenous Portfolio School of Indigenous Studies | UWA is a small and dynamic unit providing high-quality administrative and operational services to a wide variety of clients including the Indigenous Portfolio Executive, students, internal and external stakeholders.  The team is responsible for providing support to academic, professional staff and students.

The team supports the effective day-to day operations of the Indigenous Portfolio, ensuring professional, responsive and culturally appropriate service delivery. The Indigenous Portfolio aspires to lead change for Aboriginal people, develop future leaders and demonstrate education leadership in Indigenous knowledge.

About the opportunity

  • Act as the first point of contact for the Indigenous Portfolio, which includes the School of Indigenous Studies, providing a professional, welcoming and responsive front office for students, staff, visitors and community stakeholders and assist with general information regarding services and programs.
  • Coordinate a wide range of administrative functions to support the effective operations of the Indigenous Portfolio, including managing and maintaining calendars, room bookings, purchasing and operational schedules, ensuring the smooth day-to-day functioning of office activities and processes, to achieve an effective work environment.
  • Respond to a broad range of enquiries in person, by telephone and via email, exercising sound judgement to provide accurate information or refer matters appropriately.

About you

  • Completion of a degree, or an equivalent combination of relevant experience and/or education/training.
  • Substantial relevant administrative experience at an appropriate level.
  • Proven ability to provide a high level of customer service and act as an effective first point of contact for a diverse range of stakeholders.
  • Highly developed interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to communicate professionally and sensitively with people from diverse backgrounds, while providing sound judgement and problem solving.
  • Highly developed organisational skills and demonstrated ability to manage competing prioritise, work independently and meet deadlines.

Note: As part of the recruitment process, candidates will be required to complete declarations in accordance with the National Higher Education Code to Prevent and Respond to Gender-based Violence. A current National Police Clearance, WA Working with Children Check, and “C” class driver’s licence will be required by the successful applicant.

Confirmation of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander heritage will be required for the successful applicant prior to appointment.
