- Base salary range: $153,165 – $159,132 p.a. plus 17% superannuation.
About the area
The role of Finance is to support the appropriate stewardship of the University’s finance through the provision of a strategic financial and commercial advice, establishment of a financial management framework, financial management tools, procurement, management of the University’s Investment and Endowment portfolio, as well as financial oversight and accountability for finance administrative and transactional operations.
Finance undertakes this role through four core pillars: Financial Compliance, Financial Performance, Treasury & Investment and Procurement.
In undertaking this role, Finance operates support across the University, from advising the Vice-Chancellery, Executive, and Senior leadership team on strategy and performance to supporting staff and students in their purchases and travel arrangements.
About the opportunity
- Lead the University’s financial performance management, shaping budgeting, forecasting and insights that directly support Executive decision‑making and long‑term financial sustainability.
- Partner closely with senior leaders, governance committees and budget holders to deliver high‑quality financial advice, performance insights, and continuous improvement initiatives.
- Manage and develop a high‑performing team of management accountants, driving excellence in service delivery, financial literacy, and stakeholder engagement across the University.
About you
- You are an experienced financial performance leader with extensive expertise in complex budgeting, forecasting, variance analysis and performance management within a large, complex organisation.
- You bring strong strategic judgement and can interpret complex financial and operational data to provide clear, authoritative advice to senior executives and governance forums.
- You are a confident communicator, skilled in translating financial insights into high‑impact advice and reports for diverse senior stakeholders.
- You have a collaborative leadership style, with a proven ability to coach, develop and motivate professional teams while building trusted partnerships across the organisation.
- You are highly organised and analytical, with advanced capability in financial systems, large data sets and continuous improvement of financial models, processes and frameworks.
