About the area
The Division of Student Life sits within the UWA Education Portfolio under the Deputy Vice Chancellor of Education and, alongside the Division of Student Accommodation and Community, contributes to the strategic goal of delivering a world class student experience. The Division encompasses five core functions: Student Administration, Student Offices, International Student Experience and Global Learning, Student Equity and Success, and Student Wellbeing & Engagement, providing services across the student lifecycle from access and outreach through enrolment, progression and graduation. It delivers programs and services that promote academic success, wellbeing and engagement, and works closely with the Student Guild, affiliated residential colleges and the wider Education portfolio. The Student Equity and Success teams support access, participation and success through academic and cocurricular initiatives, including a dedicated first year experience, and oversee the Student Access and Participation Framework to enable all students to aspire to, achieve and thrive at The University of Western Australia.
About the opportunity
- Facilitate student learning and skills development across all academic disciplines offered by the University, particularly for students entering via alternative entry pathways and from diverse educational backgrounds.
- Provide tailored transition support to assist commencing students as they adjust to university study.
- Deliver academic skills advice to support student confidence, preparedness and ongoing success.
About you
- Assist with the enrolment, orientation and ongoing academic support of all students, particularly those who enter via the Broadway UWA, Fairway UWA, UWay and Experienced-based Entry pathway.
- Represent Student Success at enrolment and orientation events and other student forums
- Deliver drop-in sessions and workshops to assist students develop their literacy, communication and written skills
- Write, deliver, monitor and review resources to develop student academic skills, making appropriate use of flexible and online modes of delivery
- Develop attractive and cost effective soft and hard copy promotional material for the Student Success team
Note: This role has the occasional requirement to deliver workshops or information session in evenings or on weekends and to attend residential orientation programs.
